User Experience Manager

The Role

Customer Experience

  • Apply a user-centered design philosophy to create end-to-end user experiences that delight customers
  • Quickly grasp complex topics, assess problems and identify a number of solutions
  • Produce artifacts to ensure alignment, including prototypes (from static mockups to interactive versions via Axure), use cases, user flows
  • Continuously refine concepts to eliminate user pain points
  • Advocate for users and their needs throughout the product development lifecycle process
  • Develop customer experience journey maps, to plan optimal customer experience across our solutions, bridging technology, services and consulting
  • Collaborate with market-facing product managers, clients, executives and other stakeholders and SMEs
  • In addition to being a contributor, this role may hire, lead, coach and mentor one or two direct reports

User Research

  • Plan and conduct interviews with users and internal and external stakeholders to assess underlying needs
  • Objectively conduct usability testing of prototypes to gather user feedback; rapidly iterate
  • Synthesize research findings as well as site usage metrics into meaningful insights that identify opportunities
  • Bring back evidence to persuade developers and other stakeholders that recommendations are based on real user challenges
  • Create realistic user personas to help team members understand and focus on user needs and behavioral traits
  • Engage in other research methods as needed, such as ethnographic studies, surveys and A/B or multivariate testing
  • Observe and learn from end users, including physicians, practice staff, care management nurses, patients

Interface Design

  • Create interfaces and data visualizations that are intuitive and delightful despite underlying complexity
  • Design interactions that address user needs while balancing business and technology constraints
  • Present design alternatives and effectively communicate rationale and trade-offs
  • Craft annotated wireframes/mockups and UI specifications that can be used by front-end developers
  • Develop, maintain and help enforce adherence to scalable and flexible design frameworks
  • Document user interaction and design standards in a style guide for consistency across the product portfolio
  • Partner with scrum product owners, front end developers, and software and data engineers through development process

The Person



  • 7 years of customer/user experience, user research, usability testing and interface design experience
  • Background including large-scale data-rich products, mobile apps, enterprise users, SaaS model
  • Prototyping or wireframing tools; Axure preferred
  • Agile, scrum or Kanban experience… and/or a passion for iterative improvements
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills; good negotiation skills


  • Visual design tools
  • HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Familiarity with product management
  • Demonstrated success prioritizing and delivering multiple competing projects
  • Intellectual curiosity and investigative prowess
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Degree in a related field such as human-computer interaction, UX interaction design, human factors or psychology
